WEEK 16

There’s never a dull moment in G1PTh. We’ve had an incredibly exciting week - we watched and took part in performances on UN Day, sampled and enjoyed the Food Festival, visited Happy Lodge, enjoyed KIDS UP FRONT presentation by Thalia and Dora and had a birthday celebration to top it all!

The children were really wonderful during the performance (UN Day) and did us all proud. Thank you for all the lovely compliments and good wishes from so many of you and for being there to support the children. A huge thank you to Ms Jane Shearer jrs@gapps.uwcsea.edu.sg, our class music teacher has loved teaching 1PTh, and they love her, too. This was evident in the UN performance. The food festival is a great testament to how our school- parent community comes together to share their culture and traditions.

On Wednesday, we visited the elderly residents at Happy Lodge and made Christmas decorations together with them for their rooms. This was quite therapeutic for both our students as well as the elderly folks and it also created an environment where students slipped into conversations in a very natural manner.

Quote for the week - “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.” - Rabindranath Tagore

Thalia and Dora jointly presented the tradition of St. Nikolaus Day, which is celebrated in Germany and other parts of Europe in the month of December. After the presentation, we had cooking, an art activity (making St Nikolaus party bags), and some puzzles and crossword puzzles for children to get busy with. Thank you so much Susanne, Christian and Sabine for taking the time to organise this for us and helping us...we had a wonderful morning and we learnt so much about the tradition of St Nikolaus Day!

Go celebrated his 7th Birthday in class today with delicious cupcakes. Have a great birthday weekend, Go!
