We’ve had the most fun, exciting week ever!! Our Happy Lodge trip, Swim Gala, Sleepover, Kids Up Front and celebrating my birthday in class made this a very special week indeed.
On Monday, Elin confidently presented traditions, customs and important facts on Sweden. We had a “Fun Facts” round and a flag colouring activity at the end of her presentation. Thank you Elin’s dad, Jerker, for coming along and supporting Elin with this! This is probably the last Kids Up Front - a big thank you to all the students who have presented this year. We’ve learned so much from you!
On Monday, we went to Happy Lodge to meet the residents for the last time, with our K2 friends. We had a great time! We will carry very fond memories in our hearts from our visits to Happy Lodge and hope we can see them sometime again. Thank you to all the parents who have helped us in these trips. Without your support, we would not have been able to make these visits.
Our Swim Gala on Tuesday saw Grade One students taking part in races at the big pool and having so much fun! Thank you to all the parents who participated by joining in the water or supporting the children by cheering them on. There are two videos here - one of 1PTh and the other taken by Ms Mary Newbigin. Hope you enjoy seeing and sharing them.
On Thursday, we had our much awaited Grade One Sleepover! The children were excellent self managers - they set up their beds, managed all of their belongings themselves and were highly independent in every other way. Well done, Grade Ones!
Ms Jae was sick on the day, which was sad because she was really looking forward to this all year. Mr Wilcox came to our rescue and was Ms Jae for the evening - we think he had a great time! The evening started off with a walk around the school with our torches, followed by a 'Story Under the Stars' on the roof of the Infant School. The Grade One teachers performed a favourite story called 'Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson. Back in the classroom, Mr Wilcox shred a story, then we had some chips and watched the movie ‘Fantastic Mr Fox'. Almost all of the children were asleep by 10:00 and slept through the night until 5:30am (the first stirrings of life)! In the morning, after packing up and getting changed, we all headed to the canteen for a pancake breakfast. This was followed by an energetic 'Jump Jam' session led by Mr. Hamish Betts. We were so proud of all the children in PTh for not only being independent but also for looking after each other.
My birthday (7th June) was celebrated with cards, flowers, chocolates and so many hugs...it was really special. Thank you Tami for making those delicious cookies!!
