week 42

Thank you for attending our Student-Led Conferences. It was wonderful to see students sharing their ongoing learning. We hope that you enjoyed celebrating their achievements and discussing their goals. It was particularly pleasing to hear such rich and meaningful conversations around the activities and provocations.

On Monday, our children enjoyed the opportunity to eat lunch at the canteen and we will be repeating this a few more times in the days to come. On Friday, we met G2 teachers and TAs at their assembly and heard all about what to look forward to in the coming year.

Congratulations to Kjerstin, Kiara, Max, Marina, Rebecca and Amelia, our 1PTh Kuma Ambassadors. They did such a wonderful job in Cambodia and represented our school and our values brilliantly. We have heard so much from these children - their thoughts and reflections triggered many discussions in our Morning Meetings. We are very, very proud of them!

Unit of Study - Light and Sound
This week, we have been chasing shadows around campus, noticing the changes across different times in the day, sketching and recording our observations.

Shadow works when you’re in a very sunny area - Wilbur
When the sun hits an object, it creates a shadow - Daniel
Sun, if it shines on an object, can make a shadow - Arjun
Shadows are everywhere. It can be inside a shadow too! - Teo
It’s cloudy so we can’t see any shadow! - Tilly
There can be more than one shadow at one time - Alex
In the morning, your shadows are on your side. In the afternoon, your shadow is behind you. In the evening, your shadow is under you - Arjun
Shadow needs sunshine - Selina

We are now really looking forward to The Sleepover on Thursday. The children are both excited and a little bit nervous - which is understandable! It's going to be great fun, so watch this space for pictures...
