Week 41

On Monday, we met Grade 2 students and went on a Scavenger Hunt around school. This was part of getting to know the campus and routines and see what the G2 classrooms and pod look like. It was a fun filled morning and our children are definitely looking forward to graduating to Grade 2!

In Math Workshop we have been learning how to tell time to the hour and half an hour. We made a large clock on the carpet using masking tape. Children used their bodies as hour hand and minute hand to play games on time. We have also been talking about the difference between AM and PM.

This week we started with our swimming classes in the big pool! The children enjoyed it so much and are looking forward to their next session in the big pool on Tuesday. Please remember to send in their swimmers, goggles, swim caps and towels.

We have introduced our new unit, 'Light and Sound' and the children have been busy exploring the provocations in our classroom. Please send in a flashlight/torch for our new unit. Many thanks!

Initial thoughts on what children understand of the term 'Science'

Our KUMA ambassadors, Marina, Kjerstin, Max, Kiara, Rebecca and Amelia left with other Grade 1 students on Thursday for Cambodia. We waved them goodbye with banners in hand and with big, squishy hugs! We can't wait to hear all about their trip when they return to school on Monday!

Sabine, Dora’s mum, came in to the classroom twice this week. She first came as Mystery Reader on Thursday, and then, to help us with cooking on Friday! The children made some delicious caramel and chocolate pudding and had it with fruit sticks! Thank you for dedicating your time to us.
