We’ve had an exciting week in Grade One. Grade 11 students visited our classes to read to us and get to know us. Our children listened with rapt attention and had some good discussions on the books being read to them.
Swimming lessons started this week and there was so much enthusiasm and excitement in the pool (you could tell by the squeals of laughter!). Here are a few photos to get a flavour of what happens during our swimming class. Thank you so much for sending in their swimming gear.
During Mathematics, we have enjoyed exploring all manner of shapes as we kicked off our “2D Geometry” unit. We have been creating shape pictures using a variety of media, taking inspiration from the shapes all around. We went on a shape hunt in the school playground. We took photos of 2D shapes and came back to our classrooms to discuss all the shapes we saw. The buzz word for the week was ‘quadrilaterals’.
We have started to plan our Arts Festival using the ideas generated by the children. They have begun to collaboratively work on props and scripts. We watched an interesting video on facial expressions and the children had so much fun copying the expressions! We are really excited about the show and can’t wait to start rehearsing next week. The big day of the Arts Festival is February 4th and the show starts at 9.00am.
