LAST WEEK of TERM 1!

It’s hard to believe it’s the end of Term 1! There’s been so much excitement in our grade and across school.

I want to extend a huge thanks to each and everyone of you for your engagement, support and help this term. You’ve been most helpful and willing -  you’ve come in as volunteers for cooking, reading, on field trips, service in school, parties and helped us in so many different ways!

Our children thoroughly enjoyed their G1 Disco Party and the Secret Santa exchange of gifts in class on Thursday. Thank you so much Tami and Susanne for making this happen and for the delicious home made biscuits and apple crumble :) Thank you to all the parents who stopped by to join in the celebrations - the children love having their parents come in to school! Today, before school dismissal time, the children all took time to thank each other’s Secret Santas for their gifts and say one complimentary thing about it. It’s been great for Ms Jae and I to see that the children were spot-on about their friends interests and hobbies. They really know each other!

Thank you so much for the amazing gifts from all of you. I absolutely love candles and I’m out to do some weekend shopping! You have been most generous and I am truly touched by the thought behind it.

Here are some slides from the Disco party and class party. Pay special attention to the large Santa Bag...this was specially made for our class and sent by my daughter who lives in London. Please share these with the children.

Millie spent her last day in school today. We wish Millie all the best in her new school and in all her future endeavours. Please stay in touch Millie...we would love you to visit us in UWCSEA.

Our week started with Teo introducing us to Chanukah in his KIDS UP FRONT presentation. Teo told us all about the customs and traditions of Chanukah and showed us how to use the Dreidel. Dreidel is Yiddish for a spinning top. It is customary to play dreidel games on the holiday of Chanukah. Teo also gave each and every child a Dreidel to take home after playing it in class. Thank you so much Teo and Susie (Teo’s mum) for sharing the tradition with us!

Kjerstin’s dad came to class on Monday morning to talk to us about the Human Heart. He shared lots of important information and fun facts about the heart and talked about how to keep it healthy. We also learnt about ‘stents’ and how they are used. Please ask your child how this works.

Grade 1 PE lesson video as shared by Ms Sam Mitchell, our PE teacher. Please keep watching till you get to our class...

Over the holidays, be who you want to be. Have fun, try something new, get creative...I look forward to hearing all about it on the first Monday back!

I wish you all a very happy holiday season. Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas!

Safe travels if you are going away for the break. Stay safe, stay healthy and stay happy!

Take care. Happy New Year!

- Poonam and Jae

Reminders:
