Week 39

It has been a super duper energetic week and a very fun one indeed!

Love Your Lungs

On Tuesday we had our 'Love your Lungs’ event. It was so much fun running, swimming and peddling. We ran around the whole circuit 94 times collectively! It was exhausting but so exciting. The children really persevered and showed resilience - they never gave up, no matter how exhausted they were. Some much needed ice-lollies were organised for the children as a treat and they loved it!

On Wednesday, we had our 'Character Morning Tea' with our Grade 3 buddies. As soon as they came into our classroom, we pretended to be like our storybook characters. Some of our buddies had a really hard time guessing who we were!
A big thanks to all the parents for your enthusiasm and creativity with the costumes and snacks - it was an amazing experience and so much fun!

In Mathematics, we explored Singaporean money and identified the shapes, sizes, colour and denominations. We organized, sorted, and counted coins to calculate how many we had in all. We organized the coins by their amounts: 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c and $1 Dollar and some very very old 1c coins which are no longer in circulation. We have also been working on addition and subtraction problems where two numbers are known numbers and they have to calculate the unknown one. Next week, we will be looking at how to use this strategy to solve word problems, for example - Rose wrote 8 letters to her friends. Her goal is to write 12 letters. How many more letters does she need to write to meet her goal?

Mystery Reader of the week was Marina’s mum. Thank you for reading to us!

During cooking this week, the children absolutely loved making strawberry ice-cream with Go’s mum and Wilbur’s mum. There was so much excitement in the kitchen and squeals of laughter. You can imagine why!

Please look at this week’s Ebrief from Mr Morley as it has some requests for donations for the upcoming trip to Cambodia.

We have also been given the responsibility of adding materials to our ‘pop-up playground’ in the basement playground (car park area). If you have any cartons, pipes, tires, cloth etc. please send these in for our creative play. Thanks in advance.
